South Newton
The past year at South Newton has proved to be one of some refurbishment to our premises. It started with the completion of the painting of both Lomas and the Farmhouse and the laying of new flooring in the Farmhouse Dining Room and also the Upper Barn. New furniture was purchased for the Sitting Room in the Farmhouse and bright new curtains are now in the Farmhouse Sitting Room and also the Dining Room. Not to be forgotten there are new curtains in Lomas House. Outside Lomas House had its windows varnished and the moss removed from the roof. The gable end of Easdale had some repointing work undertaken.
Unfortunately the Climbing Frame had to be taken down for Health and Safety purposes so now we are raising funds for a replacement.
We have had a marvelous start to our fundraising with a very generous donation of £500 from Estate of David Lomas Estate in memory of May Lomas. The premises require maintenance completed every year and in order that it may continue this to be undertaken to a high standard it is necessary that we continue to generate money from our fee income.
Visitors to South Newton have come from various parts of the Country, from Guiding Counties other than our own and also from other organisations. Many thanks to all those who have supported us during the past year and in particular Friends of South Newton and County Members and we look forward to seeing you all at South Newton in the near future.
The Friends of South Newton Group is and excellent way of helping the County and I would those not already members to consider joining. In addition to this we have the 50/50 Draw which contributes funds to South Newton.
