WALKING REPORT
The walking team have been busy this year. I recently helped at a UK walking training in Ireland and have been working towards Mountain Leader qualification. I have also been running the navigation training for the Duke of Edinburgh Award girls with the assistance of a volunteer Mountain Leader, Andy Bowden. We went to PAGGS camp in Edinburgh to help lead walks in the Pentland Hills.
Two of us attended a training in the Lake District and Karen, a Guider from Howwood, has completed her Level 2 training in Scotland. Congratulations to Catherine Delaney who gained her Level 2 qualification.
This year’s Scottish Walkabout Challenge was on the theme of senses; many units went for a walk round the park or cycle path and made up a booklet describing what they saw, heard, or touched to gain a Walkabout Badge! Kilmacolm Guides went up Windy Hill and Linwood District walked all the way to Bridge of Weir - even the teeniest Rainbow managed it.
