28th A Paisley Brownie Unit
In October the Renfrewshire Guide Centre, South Newton celebrated its 40th year as the Renfrewshire Camp and Holiday location. The Celebration was called the Ruby Rave
5 of our Brownies had the opportunity of attending the Ruby Rave. The girls had a great day as some of them had never been to South Newton before.
Activities included hand crafts, seeing and holding different types of owls, a music making session; they took part in a Zumba class and finally finished of the day by joining with the other Brownies for a big sing song. By the time they went home they were totally exhausted. (and so was I)!!
More recently, the Brownies held a Mini Burns Supper. We played "Toss the Haggis" and then created Burns' Place Mats and Coasters which were put to good use when we had our food. Oatcakes and cheese never tasted soo good especially with the Irn Bru. We then had some auld scottish songs and finished off the night with Auld Lang Syne. A great time was had by all involved.

The Pack has resumed its meetings on a Wednesday evening. We have 12 new starts who are learning about what it means to be a Brownie. We hope they will soon be ready to make their Promise. The rest of the Brownies are working on Interest badges each week. One group are becoming experts in Road Safety while the others are raising their fitness levels as they work towards the Agility badge. As part of Agility work, the girls were having fun with hula hoops when one of the girls, Stella O’Neill, amazed us all, Not only was she able to keep 4 hoops going at the same time, she made it look easy!!! Well done Stella. Some of the Brownies are working at home on badges linked with their own interests and last week, Olivia Lauter was presented with her Sports badge. She has been working on a swimming improvement programme over several weeks and was able to impress her tester with her progress.
| The Pack worked together on planting bulbs last month. As part of the Marie Curie Mini Pots of Care Initiative, we all got a bit dirty when we planted daffodil bulbs. The Brownies now have these at home and will look after them over the winter months. In spring, we will plan an event to celebrate their growth and raise some money for the charity at the same time. |
